Rangers are showing interest in Sunderland midfielder Dylan McGeouch ahead of the summer transfer window, according to The Northern Echo.
What’s the story?
McGeouch made the bold step of making the move to English football last summer, swapping life at Hibernian for a promotion battle with Sunderland in English League One.
The paper say he decided to commit to just one year at the Stadium of Light, unsure of how things would pan out for him down south.
With his contract expiring at the end of June, he now has plenty of admirers according to the report including Blackburn Rovers, Aberdeen and Rangers.
The Sunderland move hasn’t worked out quite how he’d liked, so should the Gers be making their move to bring him back to Scotland?

What happened in Sunderland?
Injuries hampered his season for the most part and he managed to make just 30 appearances for the club across the season, making just 14 league starts in a 46 game division.
It’s not the kind of impact he’d have liked to make, especially after being a main man at Easter Road.
He didn’t even make the matchday squad for last week’s play-off final against Charlton.
Where would he fit in at Ibrox?
Despite a difficult season, a budget free transfer move for McGeouch will surely sound tempting to most clubs in the Scottish top-flight and clearly Rangers are no exception if the report is to be believed.
He is a talented midfielder who has exceptional passing ability, composure on the ball and a bit of dynamite vision to help unlock defences.
The problem with a potential move to Rangers is that Steven Gerrard already has so many options to choose from in the middle of the park.
The emergence of Glen Kamara has taken everyone by surprise but he must now be considered as a starter heading into next season.
With Scott Arfield and Steven Davis also likely to be mainstays of Gerrard’s team, backed up by talents such as Ross McCrorie and Greg Docherty, it’s hard to see where McGeouch fits in and improves the team.
Gerrard must have a lean, mean squad next season and although a McGeouch deal is tempting, they must pass on the player for now.
