Aston Villa midfielder Steve Sidwell has wished Wolves' Adlene Guedioura a speedy recovery after he suffered a broken leg in the weekend Molineux derby.
Guedioura was injured in a challenge with Sidwell, who has also been backed by Wolves manager Mick McCarthy over the incident.
Sidwell told his club's official website:"I wish Adlene well and I hope he makes a quick and full recovery. Obviously, I went in to play the ball with no malice whatsoever.
"My intent was purely to play the ball and I'd just like to say again that I wish him all the best in his recovery."
McCarthy added in the Express & Star:"He went to get the ball and missed it, but Sidwell didn't go to hurt Adlene – I don't think players do.
"It's just the nature of it that it was a late tackle, he missed the ball and caught him. Sidwell tried to tackle the ball, just didn't get anything on it and was late.
"Sadly we're a player down because of it, but they were just tackles.
"I'm not going to bleat at other teams' players because the game was played in a good spirit. There weren't any nasty tackles."Subscribe to Football FanCast News Headlines by Email
