Jamal Musiala pulled out of the Germany squad with an injury which has left Bayern Munich sweating over his fitness after a dire week.

Musiala, who has been an integral part of both Bayern Munich and the German national team, was forced to pull out of international duty due to a "hip problem". Julian Nagelsmann was counting on him for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Bosnia and Netherlands but has been forced to name Stuttgart forward Jamie Leweling as his replacement.

Bayern have had a difficult week on the pitch as they drew against Bayer Leverkusen and subsequently lost against Aston Villa in the Champions League away from home. Losing Musiala only worsens their current situation as they are yet to hit top form and have a meeting with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Bundesliga on Sunday.

Bayern released a statement that read: "Jamal Musiala will be sidelined for the time being as the Bayern midfielder contends with a hip problem following examination by the club’s medical staff."

Musiala has appeared in all eight of Bayern’s matches, contributing three goals. Now the attacking midfielder looks forward to a quick rehabilitation in Munich and the two-week international break will further help his cause. In his absence, Vincent Kompany might look to Thomas Muller and Leroy Sane to fill the void.
