Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is to become the new poster boy for telecommunications company O2, reports The Daily Mail.
The potential seven-figure-per-year deal, which will run until the end of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s current contract with Arsenal in 2016, has now entered into a phase of formal negotiations between 02 and the player’s close advisors.
The company have recently ended a sponsorship deal with the Gunners; however they have now singled-out the young England star to be the frontman for 02’s future promotional and advertising campaigns within the UK.
Aged just 19, Chamberlain has already signed similar deals with Nike, EA Sports and Disney and is on the cover of newly released FIFA 13. Interest in the attacking midfielder’s promising future grew after an impressive start to his Arsenal and England career, after being included in Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2012 squad. It now appears the talented youngster’s potential has generated huge corporate interest.
Bought by Arsene Wenger from Southampton in 2011, Oxlade-Chamberlain was playing League One football just two seasons ago. He is now considered to be one of the hottest prospects in English football, and is currently negotiating an improved deal on his contract at the Emirates.
