The loan will give Onana a chance to rebuild his career away from the spotlight at United, where he has endured a torrid time between the sticks. The Cameroon international joined the Red Devils from Inter Milan in 2023 for £48 million ($62m), with many expecting him to nail down the starting spot for many years. However, a series of calamitous errors led him to be dropped from the side and cast out of Ruben Amorim's plans. With no sides interested in making a permanent move for the shot-stopper, he has had to settle for a loan move.

Amorim has a new number one to replace Onana and fellow error-prone goalkeeper Altay Bayindir in Senne Lammens.
