Saka and Smith Rowe came up through the ranks at Arsenal together and also made their senior debuts for the Gunners around the same time. Smith Rowe's importance in Arteta's squad had been dwindling for quite some time as the 24-year-old has continued to suffer with injury and fitness issues. The London-born midfielder has now been confirmed as a Fulham player with the Cottagers paying the Gunners a reported fee of £34 million ($44m) for the move.
WHAT SAKA SAID
The Arsenal forward posted a heartwarming message for Smith Rowe following the move and said on an Instagram post: "From Hale End to the Emirates and all the memories on our journey. It’s been an absolute pleasure. Go and shine bro!"
WHAT NEXT FOR THE DUO?
The Hale End graduates will share the field again later this year when Arsenal and Fulham take on each other at Craven Cottage on December 7.
