Flick spoke to the media after watching Barcelona lose their last home game of the season 3-2 to Villarreal. Although the Catalans suffered a narrow defeat, the German tactician was not upset and instead defended his side, citing fatigue as a reason after watching them clinch the title earlier in the week. Flick admitted he was overwhelmed at the sight of fans crying during their celebrations and underscored his desire to improve next season.

Barcelona sealed a domestic treble this season, winning the Copa del Rey, Supercopa de Espana and La Liga. However, after seeing his side's Champions League dream end in the semi-finals against Inter Milan, Flick wants an even better outcome next season, insisting his squad needs improvements.
