Real Madrid and Jose Mourinho go way back, to say the very least.
After all, the Special One was a part of the Los Blancos family from 2010 until 2013 when he was battling for supremacy of Spain with none other than Pep Guardiola.
And even though he faced the Spaniard’s mighty Barcelona, Mourinho still managed to claim some silverware for his troubles.
Of course, now, he is back in England as he walked through the doors of Tottenham Hotspur following the sacking of Mauricio Pochettino by Daniel Levy.
And interestingly enough, Sport have recently come out with a report stating that his return to the Premier League has arrived as a relief for many Real Madrid players in Zinedine Zidane’s squad.

According to the update, Mourinho is used as some sort of a boogeyman whose name only comes out in the press if and when the Galacticos are actually underperforming and need a proper shake-up.
It seems that the mere mention of the Special One’s name motivates the players to try harder just to avoid having him at the helm once again.
This effect Mourinho seems to have on teams could very well benefit Spurs considering they are definitely in dire need of a reshuffle.
Pochettino left them in 14th spot in the table with no immediate fixes for their woes, maybe they could use someone with a hand as stern as Mourinho’s.
His presence is surely turning heads already with recent reports stating that the Special One’s arrival might persuade some of the key members of the team to actually stay and prolong their contracts.

But what does this actually mean for the current Real Madrid side?
It could indicate Zidane doesn’t really have what it takes to manage the team properly.
After all, if your president is forced to scare the players by mentioning the big bad wolf or the boogeyman in order to finally get them going, that might be a sign of a big issue within the team.
Of course, we don’t know whether it was actually Mourinho or Zidane who got Real back on track this season but something must’ve clicked because the Galacticos have managed to bag 15 goals in just four games stretching from their clash with Leganes up until the bout with Eibar.
Sport mention that this “tactic” was also used with former coaches such as Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari and how did they end up?
The cracks at the Spanish capital have been somewhat hidden but Perez using such tricks to get the team playing good football doesn’t seem like a sustainable plan.
Let’s see how Zidane ends up responding.
